REGS World Topics Vol. 31:An art space that harmonizes with the historic Harlem streetscape, allowing natural light to pour in and connect the street with the interior.
From our global network of GARDE agents, we bring you unique real estate transformation stories from around the world. This time, we focus on the Studio Museum in Harlem, reborn after seven years of work by Adjaye Associates, led by Ghanaian architect David Adjaye, in collaboration with Cooper Robertson Architects.
NYC
The Studio Museum in Harlem, defined by a brownstone-inspired façade and light-filled atrium, features large street-facing windows that connect the street and interior. In addition to permanent galleries, it includes education spaces, artist-in-residence studios, a rooftop terrace, and a shop and café, reestablishing itself as a community cultural hub beyond the traditional museum role.
